My Journey Through Words

I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t become a writer. I’m not a morning person, so dairy farming was out, and I could never have sold color to an albino peacock. Writing was about all that was left." That July afternoon was particularly hot, and I was on the back patio reading a mystery book, one of my favorite genres. “I could do this,” I told myself, and to prove it, I began writing. I was eleven years old, and my first book, a mystery, was the result. The book lacked in publishing quality, but the bug had bitten me hard. There is no antidote for the need to string words together. Over the years, my words have appeared in weekly newspapers, coffee table magazines, tourism and economic development publications, and even grocery lists if you pay me. But especially in books.

The Endless Journey of a Writer

One of the perks of writing is the ability to work for myself. Some days, digging ditches by hand would be easier, but the flexibility to work anywhere is a big plus. Our second home in Mississippi, our main home in northwest Georgia, where my wife and I and our two puppies live, and the mountains of northeast Georgia all nurture my writing. Since 2018, I have also served as a lay pastor in the Methodist Church, believing my writing ability is a beautiful gift from God. Inspiration for my books arrives in curious ways, but I’ve learned not to question the Muse. Instead, I capture the essence of the idea and keep writing because a writer’s work is never done. Thank goodness!

My Path to Publication

Triumph After Trials

It took forty-four years from my initial attempt to write a book until I achieved success in 2003 with the release of “Hear My Cry.” Since then, I have published twenty-eight titles by 2024. Most of my books are inspirational fiction, but I also have a secular mystery series, a Christmas-themed series, and several mainstream novels.
